Networking in the Northwest: How to win new business.

Customers often ask ‘Do I really need a new / updated website?  What will the tangible benefits be?’.  Can I honestly say that any of my client base has come as a direct result of having a website?  Yes and no.

Northwest Connects in IT Sligo, Nov 09

Networking groups and physically meeting people has been the primary driver of all of my business.  However, if I didn’t have a website would I have been taken seriously?  Not on your nelly.

For any business, small or large, who thinks that a website on its own will suffice as your only sales tool, look away now.  Since setting up in business, I have made it my business to get out and about in Sligo and the Northwest and attend as many events and networking groups where I will meet potential customers and collaborators. Bua Marketing works with LookWest.ie on Photo Competition

Bua Marketing is delighted to be working with LookWest.ie on ‘Capture a Sligo Summer Moment‘; a photography competition which aims to showcase the magic of Sligo to the huge amount of visitors to the region during the summer months.

The buzz around Sligo for the Leonard Cohen and Westlife concerts is beginning to build already so LookWest.ie, which is a Western Development Commission initiative and describes itself as ‘the definitive guide to working and living in Ireland’s Western Region’, decided that a great way to showcase this energy would be via a photo competition.

Not another Facebook photo competition?

Bua Marketing is providing digital marketing support for this competition.  There are so many online photo competitions at the moment, that we felt this had to be a little different.  Working with local stakeholders, we defined both an online and offline promotional strategy for encouraging involvement.  The objectives were clearly defined, generate as much interest and awareness of the photo competition and Sligo and measure this by photo entries, website traffic etc.  We want the people of Sligo to showcase the magic of their place.  Wear their pride on their virtual sleeve, so to speak.

Branding approaches to turn heads.

For any person or company, small or large, you need to have a brand, logo and image which packages you to your target audience.

My advice to any person or company considering what their brand should include; forget about logos or design to begin with.  Your brand is much bigger than just a logo.  Your brand is what you represent.

You need to spend time, a lot more time than you would think, asking yourself some very basic questions about your proposition:
1.    Who am I?
2.    What do I have to offer which is different?
3.    Who is my target audience?
4.    How do I get my audience to engage with me?

How to make Facebook deliver tangible results?

I’m regularly asked what to do with Facebook pages to get more fans. Everybody wants that silver bullet to jump from 500 to 5,000 fans in a few weeks. I know these basic tips have been covered lots and lots of times in other places, but I believe that there needs to be some honesty and reality around what you can achieve with a Facebook fan page, how much time you should put into it and what results you can expect.

These are some of the tips & tricks I used to make Facebook fanpages more interesting. It’s a noisy, busy Facebook jungle out there and I’m noticing less and less personal posts, more people taking a Facebook sabbatical and an ever increasing amount of boring Facebook fanpages. Read More »
